Description:

Based on the popular Disney Channel Original Movies, Disney's Descendants: The Musical is a brand-new musical jam-packed with comedy, adventure, Disney characters, and hit songs from the films!

Imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost – home of the most infamous villains who ever lived – the teenaged children of Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Jafar, and Cruella De Vil have never ventured off the island… until now. When the four troublemakers are sent to attend prep school alongside the children of beloved Disney heroes, they have a difficult choice to make: should they follow in their parents’ wicked footsteps or learn to be good?

Director's Vision Letter:
Descendants: The Musical has something for everyone…. romance, comedy, and drama.  Not to mention the amazing dancing and vocal numbers!  This show has 21 named roles, plus ensemble parts.  There are adult, high school age, and younger characters that will need to be cast.  All ages are needed and encouraged to audition.

The choreography for this show is a mix of hip hop and contemporary musical theater.  Bring your comfy clothes and tennis shoes and please warm up really  well before auditions.

Vocal audition pieces for this show are encouraged to be from a modern musical, or current pop song (CYT appropriate). Please contact Stacey Brednich at stacey@cythouston.org if you have any questions on your audition piece.

There are so many options for your monologue! You can choose from modern or classic Disney movie monologues or use a paragraph from your favorite book.   Do you have a favorite villain or hero?  This show has every kind of character in it. Surprise us and have FUN!

When this show was announced, I immediately wanted to be part of bringing it to the CYT stage. The major theme of this show, good vs. evil, is a tale as old as time, ahem… But, that is not all I see.  This is a show about relationships between mothers and daughters, best friends, fathers and sons, neighbors, peers, and of course, your relationship with yourself.

At its core, Descendants is a musical about empathy, tolerance, and acceptance.  We hope this show can be a reminder that, no matter where we come from, we are better together.

-Carol Neill
