Description:

The Magic Tree House series brings the first of Mary Pope Osborne’s celebrated fantasy adventures to life! In Dinosaurs Before Dark, Jack and Annie stumble upon a mysterious tree house packed with books, and one curious wish sends them whirling back to the age of dinosaurs. When the spinning stops, they find themselves face‑to‑face with a prehistoric world where danger and wonder go hand in hand. As they navigate this unfamiliar landscape, they form surprising bonds with the creatures they meet and summon all their courage to find a way home.

In their next enchanted journey, The Knight at Dawn, carries them into the heart of medieval times—a realm of towering castles, daring quests, and knights clad in gleaming armor. One wish drops them into a world of feasts, secret corridors, and magical armor that seems to move on its own. Chasing the mystery of the Black Knight, Jack and Annie discover the true meaning of bravery and honor as they race to return to their own time once again.

“One summer day, in Frog Creek, Pennsylvania, a mysterious tree house appeared in the woods…”

What a gift stories are, little moments of wonder and adventure. Stories are enrichment for the soul, providing us with time to forget the world around us and escape into another, to live lives we never would have dreamed of otherwise. What a thrill it is to be transported, if just for an instant, to be a swashbuckling pirate, a noble princess, or a cunning detective and still return to real life. Through stories, you can travel strange new worlds and explore things you’d never dare to otherwise. Through stories, anything is possible.

What a privilege it is then to call ourselves storytellers. To make such tales come to life for others. We take some ink printed on a page and can turn it into a fearsome dragon, with flames frothing at its mouth like drool, or a knight with armor gleaming in the sunlight, or a world full to the brim with adventure. Yes, it is wonderful to set sail into a new plot, but even more fulfilling yet to be the guide on that journey.

As we embark on this show process, that is something I encourage us all to remember. That at the core of what we are doing, we’re not just reciting words but offering others the chance to be transported. We are storytellers, and it is a magical thing to be. That magic is the most powerful kind there is, more formidable than any witch or wizard or fairy, because that magic is real.

At the heart of this show, behind all the dinosaurs and knights, there is a wonderful lesson about courage. We must not let fear keep us from doing what is right. Time and time again our protagonists face the things that scare them or battle things that are unjust, and they do so by being courageous. Like them, we too can have courage by putting our confidence in God. We see that reflected in our show verse, Jeremiah 17: 7-8, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and it never fails to bear fruit.”

Magic Tree House is a story bursting at the seams with all sorts of exciting elements; incredible dances, gorgeous music, and plenty of big, expressive characters to bring to life! We’re looking for students of all ages who are eager to be bold and creative, ready to think outside of the box, and are itching to be storytellers! It doesn’t matter if you’re a veteran of the stage or someone beginning to dip their toe into the theater pool, we encourage you to join us for the opportunity to help bring this tale to life!

So come audition—be bold, be brave, be big! Bring your personality, your creativity, and your sense of adventure. Together, we will work to not only transport ourselves, but our audience as well into the story we’re creating. We cannot wait to see your smiling faces and your no doubt lovely auditions!

Be courageous, channel the heroes of the stories you know. Frog Creek, Pennsylvania is waiting, and so are the worlds beyond that we’ll explore together. There are jesters, dinosaurs, and knights to meet. Let’s embark on this journey and turn words written on pages into living, breathing things. Let’s be storytellers, let’s make magic!
