Description:

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Annie eventually foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, finding a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary, Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Director's Vision Statement:

Hello Friends!

I am so excited to be directing Annie, Jr. this Fall. This show is near and dear to my heart. I spent many hours as a child singing my heart out in the living room along to the album of this show and pretending that I was Annie!

The show is set during the Great Depression. It was a terrible time for most families and many had no jobs, no homes, and no food. They had no way to provide for their families and many children were left to orphanages. In the midst of all of this sorrow our young heroine, Annie, is the epitome of a bright light in the midst of darkness. She believes the sun will come out tomorrow and she spreads that sunshine to everyone she meets.

We will need actors of ALL AGES  to round out the characters in this story!

Annie is supposed to be 11 years old so we will be looking for someone who looks like they are that age. She will need to be a strong singer with a lot of spunk!
The named orphans are all girls and range in age appearance from 6-13. They will also need to be strong singers, harmonizers, with lots of spunk.
We will also need to fill up the orphanage with an ensemble of orphans in that age group.
Miss Hannigan is a very mean and spiteful woman who is in charge of the orphanage. This character needs to have a strong voice and big acting chops. This includes characterization, a strong belt, and ability to make bold choices.
Grace Farrell is the exact opposite of Miss Hannigan. She is kind and treats Annie very sweetly. Grace is Mr. Warbucks secretary. This character needs to sing well. Being able to move well may be a factor in this casting.
Oliver Warbucks is a very wealthy man and mostly only cares about his money. He is very gruff and loud until he meets Annie and she melts his heart. This character will also need to be a strong singer and a strong actor as well.
Rooster is Miss Hannigan’s brother. He is a conman along with his girl, Lily. They try to disguise themselves as Annie’s parents to get money. Both of them need to be great character actors, singers, and dancers.
Bert Healy is the show host on the radio. He and his singers and the Sound Effect Man put on a great show for Annie and help her to find her parents. The character of Bert needs to have a big personality.
There are many other fun characters in the show. Bundles McCloskey, Apple Seller, Dogcatcher, Officer Ward, Drake (Warbucks butler), Cecile, Annette, Mrs. Greer, Mrs. Pugh, and other servants of Mr. Warbucks, Chauffeur, Cop, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Louis Howe, and the Star-to-be.
And we can’t forget Sandy, Annie’s dog. I would like to have a real dog if we can find the perfect one. If we can’t make that happen, we will cast a human in a dog costume.

As you can see, there are many opportunities for all age students in this show! Due to space limitations, we may not be able to cast everyone who auditions, but we are excited to see you all at auditions and see what the Lord has in store for this cast!

I will be so happy for you to join us as we bring this heartfelt show to the stage this Fall!
