Director's Vision Letter
Dear CYT Houston Family,
At its heart, Frozen is a story about love—the kind of love that is brave enough to face fear, selfless enough to sacrifice, and powerful enough to thaw even the coldest heart. Beneath the snowflakes, sparkles, and laughter lies a message that speaks deeply to who we are and who we’re called to be: true love heals.
As Scripture reminds us in 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear.” This verse captures the heart of the story of Frozen —and of our CYT Houston community. When we let love guide us, we find the courage to step forward, embrace who we are, and use our gifts to bring the light of Christ to others.
Elsa’s journey reminds us that our unique gifts—though sometimes misunderstood—are meant to shine, not to be hidden away. Anna’s story shows the beauty of a heart that loves boldly, even when it’s risky. Together, they teach us that love, not fear, is what sets us free. Together, they remind us that love—pure, unconditional love—is what melts isolation and restores relationships.
The themes of Frozen feel especially fitting for CYT Houston. Our community thrives on creativity rooted in character. Like Elsa, our students are learning to use their God-given gifts boldly; like Anna, they are learning to love courageously. Like Kristoff and the Hidden Folk, we believe that this love should be lived out in community with each other! This show invites us all to “let go” of fear, comparison, and perfection—and to step into the freedom of being exactly who we are created to be.
As we bring this story to life, the icy beauty of Arendelle will come alive through stunning visuals, powerful music, and heartfelt performances—but the real magic will be in the relationships formed along the way. My hope is that every student involved learns that they are seen, valued, and capable of extraordinary things when they step into the promise of who they were created to be. Our actors will not only tell the story through song and movement, but through truth—showing how love conquers fear and how every heart, no matter how frozen, can be set free.
Frozen is filled with roles for every personality and every age group. There will be beautiful singing, exciting dancing, and tons of chances to bring big character choices to the stage! We are looking for students who can be authentic and bring sincere heart to this production - cutting through the magic and spectacle to deeply touch the hearts of our audiences. Whether you’re an experienced performer ready to “Let It Go,” a storyteller eager to bring joy to others, or someone just beginning to explore theater, we encourage you to audition for the opportunity to be part of this beautiful story!
So be brave like Anna, bold like Elsa, and curious like Olaf—come audition! Bring your heart, your joy, and your willingness to try something new. Together, we’ll create something truly magical. We can’t wait to share this story with you—a story that reminds us all that love, in the end, will always win.
