Description

Ready to take your comedic acting to the next level—and write your own scripts while you do it? In this fast-paced and fun class, students will dive into the world of sketch comedy—where characters are bold, timing is everything, and the laughs never stop!
We’ll explore the building blocks of great sketch comedy: creating memorable characters, mastering comedic timing, writing original scenes, and performing hilarious sketches.
Each week, we’ll sharpen our skills through improvisation games, script work, and creative writing exercises that build confidence and spark collaboration. Students will learn how to heighten a scene, play to an audience, and deliver punchlines like pros.
Prerequisite: Must have completed 2 classes in Beginning/Intermediate Drama **Please do not sign up for this class unless you have met the prerequisite (show participation does not cover these prerequisites)

Liz Curtin

Liz Curtin graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BFA in Theatre Arts and Secondary Education. Liz has performed in various roles in professional and community theatre in NYC, London and Houston, as well as work in commercials and voice overs. Ms Curtin began her teaching career at Jersey village high school, and has taught English and theatre at Cy Falls high school, Tomball High School, and St Anthony of Padua Catholic School. “My greatest joy is watching my students bloom into confident and passionate performers. In my experience, the kids who fear the spotlight the most are the ones who bask in the pure joy of the it once we work to conquer that fear!”
