Description

Have you ever heard the expression, "acting is reacting?" As actors, one of the most important skills is being able to react - in character - to everything happening around you on stage. Great actors know that some of the most powerful moments on stage happen when they aren’t saying a single word! In this exciting, high-energy class, students will discover how to stay fully engaged, make bold character choices, and bring every scene to life through their reactions.
From creating larger-than-life characters to mastering the art of listening, responding, and staying in the moment, actors will build confidence and sharpen the skills that make performances unforgettable. Through fun improv games, team-building challenges, and interactive activities, students will learn how to fill the stage with energy—even when they’re not the one speaking. We'll wrap it all up with a high energy Showcase of all your newly learned skills! So, are you ready to come REact with us?

Lexie Hutson

Hi, I'm Lexie Hutson! I currently teach 9th grade English in Aldine ISD, and I have a B.A. in English from Texas A&M. During high school and college, I was on my school's improv team and part of many theater productions, both on and off of the stage. I have experience with acting, improv, tech theater, and playwriting. I am incredibly excited to be working with CYT and to help kids develop a love for all things theater!
