Summer Stock Backstage Ninjas!
This intensive, immersive two-week workshop is designed to teach and strengthen the skills needed to serve on the backstage and technical crew for our Summer Stock production of
Finding Nemo Jr.
Backstage Ninjas learn directly from qualified staff in a safe, Christ-centered environment while gaining hands-on experience behind the scenes.
Camp Details
- Dates: June 15-27
- Days/Times: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
- Location: Charles Bender Performing Arts Center (611 Higgins St, Humble, TX 77338).
- Performances:
- Saturday, June 27
- Showtimes: 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM
- Call Time: 9:00 AM
Forms
Program Overview
- Focused on backstage and technical theater skills
- Emphasis on teamwork, responsibility, and Christian values
- Students must demonstrate a higher level of maturity due to:
- Use of power tools
- Working on backstage sets
- Please remind your student of the importance of appropriate behavior at all times
Being on stage is only one part of a production—actors rely on a strong crew. As a Backstage Ninja, students learn how to support and make a show possible behind the scenes.
Security & Pick-Up
- Daily sign-in and sign-out required
- Pick-up card will be issued at drop-off and must be presented daily
- Alternate pick-up:
- Must be noted with staff at the beginning of the day
- Photo ID required at pick-up
- Drop-off: No earlier than 8:45 AM
- Pick-up: Promptly at 3:00 PM
Clothing
- Closed-toe shoes required daily
- Clothing suitable for painting and building
- No flip-flops or bare feet
- All black required:
- Friday of camp
- Saturday performances
- CYT Dress Code applies (see Parent Handbook)
Food
- Bring lunch, snack, and refillable water bottle daily
- Nut-free camp (no foods containing nuts)
- Snacks available for purchase ($0.50–$1.00)
- No microwaves available—food must be ready to eat
Final Performances & Strike
- Performances held the Saturday following the final camp day
- Call Time: 9:00 AM
- Showtimes: 11:00 AM & 2:00 PM
- Families are expected to stay and help strike the show after the final performance
- Strike Party will follow
- Estimated completion time: 5:00 PM
Tickets
- Performances are ticketed events
- Tickets should be purchased after the first day of camp
- Each Backstage Ninja receives one complimentary ticket for the show of their choice
Refund Policy
- No refunds after camps are purchased
- Transfers may be possible only if CYT cancels the camp
- Please register only if you are confident in your summer plans
Our days will be filled with building, painting, sound equipment, teamwork, faith, and fun. We can’t wait to share this experience with your student!
