Description:

From Marcy Heisler and Zina Goldrich, the creators who brought you Dear Edwina and Dear Edwina JR., comes Junie B. Jones The Musical JR. – a delightful adaptation of four of Barbara Park's best-selling books, brought to life in a delightful adaptation created specifically for Broadway Junior performers.
Join Junie B. on her first day of first grade, where many changes are in store: Junie's best friend Lucille has found new best friends -— and Junie B. makes friends with Herb, the new kid at school. While in Mr. Scary's class, Junie has trouble reading the blackboard — and she may need glasses. Add in a friendly cafeteria lady, an intense kickball tournament and a "Top-Secret Personal Beeswax Journal," and first grade has never been more exciting.
Featuring many lovable characters and fun-filled songs, Junie B. Jones JR. will capture your audiences' and Broadway Junior performers' hearts — just as the books captivated an entire generation of students.

Director's Vision Statement:
I am so excited to be directing Junie B. Jones, Jr. this Fall! The music is so fun and it makes you want to dance! The characters are many and there are multiple solos throughout the show.

Junie B. is a 6 year old girl trying to navigate first grade. Her friends have found other new friends and nothing seems to be going her way.  AND on top of all that she needs glasses! Junie B. has to learn to find new friends and be kind to everyone. Can Junie B. do it? Come find out!

Most of the characters in the script are children, both girls and boys. There are also multiple roles for older characters who can play Mother, Daddy, Mr. Scarey, and Gladys Gutzman. We will also be looking for a special dog to play the role of Pickles!

With songs like “Top Secret Personal Beeswax”, “Lunch Box”, “Kick Ball Tournament”, “When Life Gives You Lemons”, “Writing Down the Story of My Life”, and more, you’ll be singing and dancing your heart out!

It is my hope that together we can show our audience what it means to be kind to everyone and what it really means to be a friend to others. Our show verse will be from Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
I can’t wait to see all of you shine in this production!

~Dee Willis
