Class Description

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no it’s a puppet!  What is more fun than playing superhero? Acting it out with puppets! Puppets are everywhere! The Broadway productions of Lion King and Warhorse, films such as the remade Muppet Movie series, as well as, Las Vegas performers like America’s Got Talent winner, Darci Lynn Farmer, have generated a renewed interest in the performing art of puppetry.  Students will learn puppetry techniques such as proper manipulation of puppets, exits and entrances, puppet posture, eye contact, creating characters, making puppets come alive and more. We will also be making our very own superhero puppet to use in our showcase. Come and create with us and bring a  puppet to life for truth, justice and the American Way.

Abby Cleverly

My passion for theater arts started very young with plays at home in front of family. It grew as I got older to include school plays, church productions. I love to share it with children and see the spark when they get it and shine. I have been teaching children's choir and drama at my church for 8 years as well as directing and assisting church productions for the past 10 years. It is my joy to now teach with CYT. I am a mother of 4 and have been married to my wonderful supporting husband for 22 years.
