Our Gang is CYT’s special series of classes designed especially for our 6-7 year old kiddos. Jump into the world of theatre with singing, dancing, and dancing. This class introduces the fundamentals of theatre while performing in a safe, encouraging environment. Students will also explore their creativity through allotted time for arts and crafts. Children develop confidence as they get their first glimpse into the joy of the stage! Come join in on the fun! The theme is "Jungle Book".
Hello! My name is Carla Meyer and I will be teaching Our Gang this session at CYT. I'm excited about getting to know both you and your child over the next several weeks and look forward to a successful class and fabulous Showcase! I grew up in a small town, just up the hill from Sacramento California. Living in my house, was like living in a musical. We were always singing songs from all the classics! Especially Sound of Music, Annie and of course all Disney!!!! I have a B.A from Moody Bible Institute in Biblical counseling; and a Teaching credential from Sacramento State University. I taught kindergarten for 6 years here in Texas, and for the last 6 years I have enjoyed homeschooling my 3 children. I am currently homeschooling and now get the pleasure of teaching your children to sing, dance and most importantly have FUN!
We will be singing two songs from Disney's Jungle Book for our Showcase. The class will include singing,
Dancing ,puppetry, improvisation, crafts and lots of fun games as we explore the various aspects of theater through the world of Mowgli and friends.
Please be sure to check your syllabus and email so that your child is prepared for class. I will send a email after Christmas explaining your child's costume for our showcase. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting each of you!!
