Class Description

If you want to add something fun and unique to your performance repertoire, this is the class for you! Students in this class will learn how to bring puppets to “life” by developing foundational skills in both traditional puppet performance, and ventriloquism. They will create their own, unique puppet characters and work in groups to write skits and songs for their puppets to perform during the Showcase.

Lisa Woods

Lisa Woods grew up in a family of actors and singers and has never met a stage she didn’t like! At eight years old, she took an interest in ventriloquism and began performing with her puppet friends for schools, civic groups, and churches. Since then, Lisa has been blessed with opportunities to work as an Artist-in-Residence for several Texas school districts, to entertain audiences throughout the U.S. and abroad, and to integrate the use of puppets into her chosen career, Elementary Education. Lisa has a husband, Randy, and two teenage children, Maya and Kai, all of whom have grown accustomed to sharing their home with a variety of “talking” animals and other characters! She has taught puppetry and ventriloquism in the past and is excited to work with some of her very favorite people--CYT students!
