Class Description

Having opened in 1988 and still playing today as the longest-running show in Chicago’s history, Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind is an ensemble experiment in presenting "30 Plays in 60 Minutes." Each two-minute play is performed in random order with an interactive audience. An onstage 60-minute timer (in our case 30) keeps everyone honest. As a cast we will chose from a collection of 90 comic, tragic, political, personal, and abstract plays that will give us the chance to program our own evening of 30 Neo-Futurist plays to reflect the lives and experiences of our ensemble. Are you ready for the challenge? Go!

Please note:  Class dates will be on Mondays, beginning on February 22nd.  The students will have ONE additional class on Thursday, April 22nd during their regular class time.  This will be time for them to work on their show, on the stage they will be performing on, with any sets and props they will need.  (Consider this tech night, in a way)

Project Plays will be performed in a Play Festival on April 24 at Klein United Methodist Church.  Two complimentary tickets will be set aside for the family of the students in the project play.  Additional seats will be sold.  Students will be called at 4:00pm and the festival will begin at 6:00pm and is expected to have a run time of approximately 2 hours.
***Attendance at the Play Festival is a requirement of registering for this class!
