Class Description

NEW PERFORMANCE-BASED CLASS! Be a part of CYT Houston's first Play Festival!!!

We will audition and rehearse our play during classes until Nov. 9th (a couple of weeks more than the traditional classes), then perform our play at our ticketed CYT Houston Play Festival on the evening of NOVEMBER 14th.  The Festival will be the culminating performance for all of our Project Play classes and a wonderful chance to celebrate the Straight Play genre of theater together.  Registration in this class also includes 2 tickets to the play festival.

"Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Pig?" By Palvin Williams
He’s big, he’s bad, and he’s a wolf that won’t change his bad behavior for anyone. He has destroyed property, terrorized citizens, and even attempted to eat a poor grandmother. It doesn’t seem like he will ever change. That is until he is visited by The Fairy Godmother who decides to give him a taste of his own medicine and turns him into a pig. Now, Wolf must learn how his behavior affects his neighbors and must truly change his bad ways. If he doesn’t, he will be stuck as a pig for the rest of his days. This production is a fun comical twist to the legend of The Big Bad Wolf and brings with it a fun cast of characters such as the Fairy Godmother, Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, Rumpelstiltskin, that is sure to bring the house down (provided that it’s made of hay and sticks)!!

To participate in this class you must be committed to participating in the live performance on NOVEMBER 14, 2020.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 our dates, venue and class format may be forced to change.

Palvin Williams

Hi, my name is Palvin Williams, and I am super excited to be directing a Fractured Fairy Tale: “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Pig” this fall at CYT! I have been a teacher for 11 years, and I am currently the middle school theatre teacher at The Woodlands Christian Academy. Over the last ten years at CYT I have directed three shows, coached improv, and taught 10 classes. I am super excited for this class and I can’t wait to meet my students! My verse for theatre is Colossians 1:16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.
