Class Description

This class that will instruct students on how to utilize hot foam carving knives, sugar glass sculpting, theatre ceramics, artistic painting and papier-mâché to create magical props and set design pieces.  Actors will learn how to collaborate with the artistic team as well as those who provide the sets, lights, costumes, sound, and special effects that add to the environments in which they perform.
Students will participate in creating stage props and set dressing for our upcoming productions; to include Frozen Jr. and The Addams Family.
The students will need to be able to follow safety procedures. This is very important as we will be working with heated elements and different solvents that could potentially cause injury if not used properly.

My family got started with CYT in 2013 with an amazing summer camp. My daughter was hooked, and so was I! My youngest has started taking classes and doing shows now as well. Definitely a family affair! CYT encourages not only my love for musical theatre it also allows me to utilize all of the crafting and creating I love to do. I have been the Prop Production Team member for the Houston area for 3 years. I have worked directly on props for 12 shows including CCT’s Fiddler on the Roof and Newsies. I have also had a great time teaching props with the amazing CYT kids for Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz, Elf Jr, and Tarzan. I love CYT and am so excited to be an Intern for with the Annie Artistic Team!
