Class Description

Learn tricks of the trade and delve into the world of dialect! This course is designed to familiarize students with a group of common accents and dialects (primarily American, British, and European) and to provide them with a set of exercises and resources for improving their skills in vocal transformation.
    • Learn to produce a variety of accents including proper British, cockney, New York, Southern, German & others
    • Learn the importance of voice and dialect in creating a character
    • Learn the importance of breath and inflection in producing dialects.

Hello. My name is Rebecca McDowell and I have been a parent volunteer, show coordinator, camp coordinator, assistant director, director, and teacher with CYTH since 2012 when my daughter, James, performed in her first CYT production, "The Wizard of Oz". I directed "Elf, Jr., the Musical" in 2018, and had the BEST time with my cast, crew, and families!! YAY! I have loved all of these important roles and I am thankful to be part of CYT Houston! I love Jesus, my kids, my family and friends, my pets, and my students. I also teach English and formal writing to homeschool kids and I volunteer with the Players Theatre Company in Conroe, Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about the classes I am teaching this session.
