Description

Musical theatre isn't just about great songs and exciting dance numbers.  The dialogue that takes place between characters moves the story along.  In this class, we will look at many scenes that are critical to the plot of their show -- scenes between parents and children, buddies making plans, couples discovering romance, villains laying out evil plots, and more! We'll explore scenes from Cinderella, Aladdin, Big Fish, The Lion King, and other great shows to grow in our understanding of how interpersonal dynamics make scenes more exciting and meaningful.

Teacher:

Brendan Peoples

Brendan got his start on the stage in 4th grade as one of the tailors in The Emperor's New Clothes and acted through the rest of school and college. With three children active in CYT, he is happy to have returned to the stage as the Bank Chairman in CCT's Mary Poppins and a member of Congregation in CCT's Hunchback of Notre Dame. Favorite earlier roles include Tommy Djilas (The Music Man), Chaplain (Mother Courage and her Children), and Ed Carmichael (You Can't Take It With You). He sings Baritone in his church choir, helps with the church children's choir, is a Cub Scout Den Leader, and enjoys seeing his children grow in Christ and in confidence at CYT.
