Class Description

This class is filled with songs from your favorite Disney Villains. You will learn how to be a good singer by singing as the Bad Guy.  Songs like Be Prepared, Poor Unfortunate Souls, and Shiny from Moana are great songs for beginning vocalists. Disney Villains will give opportunity to focus on storytelling singing, learn healthy technique, and explore the voice while we embrace our inner mischief maker.

I am on my fifth year of being a Children's Choir Director at my local church, and have greatly enjoyed every minute of it. I come from a musical family. My father was a Vocal Performance major and has now been singing with the Houston Grand Opera Chorus for over fifteen years. My mother was a middle school choir director who had over twenty years of teaching experience and a Teacher of the Year award in 2013. I am following my musical heritage and am currently pursuing a degree in Music Education. Coming from a musical family, I have been formally singing since I was in the 6th grade. In grade school, I was a Region Choir member five times, and an All State Choir member once. So far in my college career, I have been a Semi-finalist, a Finalist, and a Third Place Winner in the Musical Theater division for NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing). I have been in various musical ensembles. Cheveré, a Latin Jazz ensemble, a small elite ensemble known as EVōK (Eclectic Voices of Kingwood) where we got the sing with Josh Groban for his Houston Performance, and in a Pink Floyd cover band where we covered the Dark Side of the Moon album. I have had the wonderful privilege of being part of the Owen Theater in the Conroe area where I was cast in Mamma Mia and A Christmas Carol in 2019. I am very much an extrovert, and have been teaching children for many years. I have taught vocal music, taekwondo and music theory to people of all ages since I was sixteen. I love teaching and I love all the kids that I have gotten to work with. I learned what it means to be a great teacher from my mother. Her influence and my natural "kid at heart" mentality make me a passionate and fun teacher.
