Class Description

Shenanigans reign in this hilarious adaptation of the classics! Really, how many times does Romeo need to die?
This project play will delve into Shakespeare and his humor and bring the comedy to the audience as we “teach” them the finer things of the Bard!  Be not afraid of voices old.  Learn why the stars of today embrace the greatest of playwrights and even how our language has been crafted in many ways from his pen!  Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Snout and Puck are just some of the characters we’ll get to know.
Until we meet in a fortnight twice, I say farewell.
Remember, All the World’s a Stage!
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts!

Please note:  Class dates will be on Tuesdays, beginning on February 23rd.  The students will have ONE additional class on Thursday, April 22nd during their regular class time, at Klein United Methodist Church.  This will be time for them to work on their show, on the stage they will be performing on, with any sets and props they will need.  (Consider this tech night, in a way)

Project Plays will be performed in a Play Festival on April 24 at Klein United Methodist Church.  Two complimentary tickets will be set aside for family of the students in the project play.  Additional seats will be sold.  Students will be called at 4:00pm and the festival will begin at 6:00pm and is expected to have a run time of approximately 2 hours.
***Attendance at the Play Festival is a requirement of registering for this class!

Theater, kids, family and the Lord are what CYT brings so beautifully together and I'm grateful every day to be a part of this organization. I began in CYT as a teacher and have had the honor to teach and direct both shows and camps. I thank my Savior for His love and faithfulness.

Location Notes:

Through a generous gift of space from our community partner, Memorial Hermann Northeast Hospital, we have been blessed with beautiful, updated classroom space in a removed wing of the hospital with a separate entrance from the main building. We are so thankful for this gift that allows us to be able to continue offering programming in our CYT Houston East area!
