Totally RED! is a unique and fun retelling of the classic battle of wit and deception as told in the beloved fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood. We meet Red (who is nobody's fool) and the wolf (who tries to be cool) and granny—well, sometimes she's left in the dark! The roles are lively and complicated.
Totally RED! begins with a humorous version in storybook theatre style. The story continues with three to five minute retellings of sections within the tale, told in multiple styles: melodrama (The Perils of Being Miss Red); Elizabethan (Much Ado About Red); '80s hip-hop slang (REDz in the Hood); and avant-garde (Call the Moment RED). There is also an additional scene in American musical style, RED! The Musical!. This play is as much fun for the performers as it is for the audience.

Project Play classes are different than our standard courses.
1.  Project Play classes audition and rehearse our play during regular class period through January 31st (showcase night for other classes), but will also have an additional class  on Thursday, February 17th, at Klein United Methodist Church.  This will be a dress rehearsal and all classes will have an opportunity to run their show on the stage.  It is crucial that ALL students are able to attend that Thursday night class session.
2.  All Project Play classes will perform  at our ticketed CYT Houston Project Play Festival on FEBRUARY 20th.  The Festival will be the culminating performance for all of our Project Play classes and a wonderful chance to celebrate the Straight Play genre of theater together.  Registration in this class also includes 2 tickets to the play festival.
3.  Project Play classes have a specific maximum number of students based on that script that is being used.  Once the class is full, we cannot add more spaces.

To participate in this class you must be committed to participating in the live performance on FEBRUARY 20, 2022.

Class Dates for this Project Play class are:
2/1 (Showcase for other classes)
2/17 (Dress rehearsal at Klein United)
2/20 Project Play Festival at Klein United - Tickets will be available online.

Abby Cleverly

My passion for theater arts started very young with plays at home in front of my family. From there it grew to include church productions and community theater. I am so excited to share this love of acting with students in this play. It will be a great time of learning different styles and working together to produce a great play!
