Description

“Goin’ courtin” has never been so much fun! Seven Brides for Seven Brothers takes place in the 1850s in the Oregon wilderness. The story revolves around Adam Pontipee, a rugged country man, who goes to town looking for a bride to marry to help him take care of his six rowdy brothers. His new bride soon plans to civilize and marry off her six rowdy brothers-in-law to ensure the success of her own marriage. Bursting with rambunctious energy, SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS is full of boisterous fun.

PARENT COMMITMENTS:
CYT would not be able to do what we do without parent involvement. Making this a family activity is part of what makes CYT so special. When a parent signs the audition form for their student, they are committing to several things, themselves.

1.  Production Fee of $125.00 to be paid by second rehearsal.  If not paid, student will not be allowed to stay for rehearsal.  This fee includes show T-shirt and Saturday meals on show days.  Your student may be required to purchase other items such as shoes, socks, and hair color, if applicable.

2.  Mandatory Parent Meeting:  At least one parent from each family must attend these meetings.  At these meetings, you will find out what committee you will be assigned to for pre-show and show week.  We will also go over other important information that we, as parents, can do to help make the show successful for our kids.

3.  Committees:  At least one parent must serve on a pre-show and show week committee.  When you find out how fun this can be, the whole family might like to get involved.  You will need to fill out the committee preference form and turn this in at auditions.  You will be placed on a committee and contacted by that chairperson to help achieve the goals of that committee.

4.  Check your email  for any updates as we move from auditions to show week.

5.  Make the commitment to make sure your son or daughter is at auditions, rehearsals, mandatory tech/dress rehearsals and mandatory shows.  All conflicts MUST be noted on audition form.

6.  HAVE FUN!  This is not just for the kids....I have made some of my closest friendships by getting involved with CYT and serving on committees.  You will be surprised at how much you, as a parent, will take away from this production.

Please contact Wendy Brasher at wendy@cythouston.org if you have any questions.  I can also be reached at 936-537-0929.  I look forward to meeting you all and beginning this adventure together.
