Description
Based on the Academy-award winning animated feature, the stage version of Disney's Beauty and the Beast includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.
Audiences will be transported to the heart of the provincial life in a lovely French town. When Maurice becomes lost in the woods on the way to the fair, he seeks shelter in an old castle, but the master of the castle is a horrible beast that takes him captive.
Maurice's daughter, Belle, must then give up her freedom to save his life. Belle's taming of the unfortunate Beast and his ultimate transformation back into a handsome prince enthralled Broadway audiences for over 13 years.
This "tale as old as time" is a delightful story for children, young and old.

Making this a family activity is part of what makes CYT so special. When a parent signs the audition form for their student, they are committing to several things, themselves. 1. Production Fee of $125.00 to be paid by second rehearsal. If not paid, student will not be allowed to stay for rehearsal. This fee includes show T-shirt and Saturday meals on show days. Your student may be required to purchase other items such as shoes, socks, theater makeup, tote to bring personal supplies, leotards, jazz pants, (these are undergarmets under their costumes) and hair color, if applicable. (This may change from show to show. Most items are carried over to the next show) 2. Mandatory Parent Meeting: At least one parent from each family must attend these meetings. At these meetings, you will find out what committee you will be assigned to for pre-show and show week. We will also go over other important information that we, as parents, can do to help make the show successful for our kids. 3. Committees: At least one parent must serve on a pre-show and show week committee. When you find out how fun this can be, the whole family might like to get involved. You will need to fill out the committee preference form and turn this in at auditions. You will be placed on a committee and contacted by that chairperson to help achieve the goals of that committee. 4. Check your email or callboard for any updates as we move from auditions to show week. 5. Make the commitment to make sure your son or daughter is at auditions, rehearsals, mandatory tech/dress rehearsals and mandatory shows. All conflicts MUST be noted on audition form. 6. HAVE FUN! Please contact Jennifer Chidester at jennifer@cythouston.org if you have any questions. |
